Janna Fassaert (1981) became a famous actress in Holland when she got cast in the TV comedy show Bitches (it received the Dutch version of the Golden Globe Award for Best New Comedy). She also was a regular on Lotte, the Dutch version of Ugly Betty. Her international break came when she got a cast in the feature Couples Retreat.

Janna Fassaert was born in Naarden, The Netherlands on January 28th, 1981. When she was 8 years old she moved to South Africa, together with her parents, older brother Tom and younger sister Noortje. She lived there until she turned 14, then she and her family moved back to The Netherlands.

She was trained at the prestigious Dutch Theatre School in Maastricht for four years and was invited in 2007 by famous acting coach Ivana Chubbuck to come to Los Angeles to participate in her masterclass. Ivana Chubbuck coached stars such as Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey, Charlize Theron and Halle Berry. Janna has also studied with Joyce Hiller Piven, Jeremy Piven's mother.

Her international break came when she got cast in the feature Couples Retreat, directed by Peter Billingsley, starring Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Kristin Davis, Malin Akerman, Jean Reno and Jason Bateman. She plays the role of masseuse Gert in a couple of hilarious scenes with Jon Favreau. Couples Retreat premiered in the Mann Village Theatre in Los Angeles October 5th, 2009.

In the summer of 2009 Janna landed herself the lead of marine biologist Skylar Shane in the new international action-packed adventure film Amphibious 3D from director Brian Yuzna, director of features as The Dentist and Beyond Re-Animator and writer of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids. Amphibious 3D is produced by San Fu Maltha (Fu Works) and will be released in 2010. It’s the first 3D movie of Asia.

Janna is not only comfortable in front of a camera, but in the theatre as well, where she has had numerous leads among which; Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream and Othello (Desdemona) and The Marriage by Elias Canetti. She also played the title role in Medea.

She is a World citizen and speaks five languages fluently; English, Dutch, South-African, French, German and also a little Japanese and Indonesian.

Janna is now living in Los Angeles.
